Where can I read Bold.org's Privacy Policy and Terms of Use?

Both are on bold.org and you can read them at any time:

  • Privacy Policy: what information Bold.org collects, how it's used, who it's shared with, and your privacy rights

  • Terms of Use: the rules for using your account and applying for scholarships, including the Bold Points program rules

You accepted both when you created your account. You must be at least 14 to use Bold.org.

What information does Bold.org share about me?

Your profile is used to check scholarship eligibility and is included with your applications, so scholarship providers see it when they review you. If you tell us you're interested in particular schools, Bold.org may also share your information with those schools. The Privacy Policy has the full list under "How We Share Your Information".

Your essays are only public if you choose to showcase them. See Essay Privacy & Reuse.

How do I opt out of the sale or sharing of my personal information?

Submit a request through the Privacy Rights request form and choose Opt-Out of Selling and Sharing. You'll get an email confirming the request. This is the same option as the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link at the bottom of bold.org.

To stop marketing emails only, use the unsubscribe link in any email or go to Settings > Notifications.

How do I see, correct, or delete the data Bold.org has about me?

Use the same Privacy Rights request form. You can ask to:

  • Access and Know: get a copy of the information Bold.org holds about you

  • Correct or Update: fix information that's wrong or out of date

  • Delete: erase your information. This also closes your Bold.org account and can't be reversed.

Bold.org may ask you to verify your identity before completing the request. If you only want to close your account, you can do that yourself from Settings > Account. See Deleting Your Account.

I'm under 18. Does anything change?

Bold.org doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone under 14, and doesn't sell or share information about anyone under 16. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to the Official Scholarship Rules on your behalf before you apply. A parent or guardian can also submit a privacy request for you using the request form.
