Where can I find the official scholarship rules?
The full text is at bold.org/scholarship-rules. Every scholarship on Bold.org follows these rules, together with the requirements listed on its own page. By applying, you agree to them. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian must read and agree to them for you.
Who can apply?
You can apply only if you meet the eligibility requirements on that scholarship's page. Eligibility is checked against your Bold.org profile, so keep it accurate. See Scholarship Eligibility.
A few people can't apply, no matter the scholarship:
Bold.org employees, officers, and directors, and anyone else involved in running the scholarship
Their immediate family members and anyone living in their household
Scholarships are non-transferable and must be accepted as awarded.
Does it cost anything to apply?
No. There is never a purchase or payment required. To be considered, submit a complete application through Bold.org before the deadline. See Applying for Scholarships.
Can my application be disqualified?
Yes. Bold.org can disqualify applications that are inaccurate or incomplete, that appear to be generated by automated tools or scripts, or that contain plagiarism. Breaking any of the rules also means disqualification.
How are winners chosen?
Applications are reviewed by Bold.org or the scholarship provider, based on the criteria on the scholarship page. All decisions, including the choice of winner, are final. If no qualified applications come in, a scholarship may not be awarded.
How will I know if I won?
Winners are contacted through the details on their Bold.org account, so keep your email current. Before an award is paid you may be asked to verify your eligibility. If the notification can't be delivered, or you don't provide verification in time, the award is forfeited and may go to another applicant. See How Winners Are Selected & Notified.
How is the award paid?
After notification and verification, the award is paid to your accredited school and applied toward tuition once Bold.org receives proof of enrollment. Unless a scholarship says otherwise, awards aren't paid directly to you, and they can't be paid to schools outside the United States. You're responsible for any tax on the award.
