How is scholarship eligibility determined?
Each scholarship on Bold.org has its own unique eligibility requirements, set by the scholarship provider. Common criteria include:
Education level (high school, undergraduate, graduate)
GPA (minimum threshold)
Field of study or major
School or institution
Demographics (background, location, etc.)
Other requirements specific to the scholarship
Eligibility is determined based on the information in your Bold.org profile. That's why keeping your profile accurate and up to date is important.
How do I know if I'm eligible for a specific scholarship?
Each scholarship page lists its requirements. Review the eligibility criteria before applying. If your profile matches the criteria, you should be able to apply.
If you're unsure about your eligibility for a specific scholarship, contact Support with:
The name or link to the scholarship
Your Bold.org account email
We can help confirm whether you meet the requirements.
I'm not eligible for a scholarship I'm interested in. What should I do?
First, review your Bold.org profile and make sure it accurately reflects your current information β especially your:
Education level
School or institution
Major or field of study
GPA
Graduation year
If any of these are outdated or incorrect, update them and check the scholarship again. Eligibility is based on the data in your profile, so keeping it current can make a difference.
Does my Bold.org profile affect which scholarships I'm eligible for?
Yes. Your profile information is what the system uses to evaluate eligibility. An incomplete or outdated profile may cause you to appear ineligible for scholarships you actually qualify for.
Make sure to:
Complete all sections of your profile
Update your education details if you've changed schools, graduated, or declared a new major
Check the scholarship page for any specific requirements beyond what's in your profile
I'm an international student. Am I eligible?
Bold.org welcomes students regardless of citizenship status, as long as they are currently enrolled in or planning to attend a U.S.-based institution. For detailed eligibility scenarios, see International Students on Bold.org.
What about students in U.S. territories?
Students in U.S. territories (such as Puerto Rico) are eligible for Bold.org scholarships. If you're having trouble with your address or school during sign-up, contact Support for assistance.
